Turkish Folk Music Concert themed Family Year by our university's YAŞAM Center

At the opening of the concert, Burdur Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Mustafa Çakır thanked the Women Caravaners Turkish Folk Music group and the audience for their participation.

We Are One Big Family

Following Provincial Director Mustafa Çakır, MAKÜ YAŞAM Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Say Şahin said, “Today, we are all experiencing the joy of coming together at this beautiful event that we organized jointly with our external stakeholders.” She continued her speech as follows; 

“While Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University is already a very large family with all its staff and students, we are now an even bigger family with our external stakeholders like our Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services and especially with our pride, our elders, all the residents of the nursing home in Burdur.”

Emphasizing that as the Center for Aging Studies and Application, they are a research center conducting many activities and field research in the fields of Geriatrics and Gerontology, Şahin touched on the importance of raising awareness about aging in Burdur and building sustainable self-sufficient elderly communities. She stated that based on our university's motto From Universal Knowledge to Social Contribution, the activities planned with external stakeholders for all the people of Burdur, thematic panels, informative meetings, and artistic events will continue without diminishing, and with the support they receive from the management of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, they will achieve even more beautiful works. She also expressed her gratitude to all the nursing home staff, through Burdur Hilmi Hafize Evin Nursing Home Director Mr. İbrahim Çetinkaya, for their courtesy, dedicated work, open-mindedness, and management approach that does not complicate but facilitates. Şahin concluded her speech by thanking the Women Caravaners Turkish Folk Music group under the direction of Conductor Yıldız Can, who contributed to our Folk Music Concert event planned as the first event of 2025 and came here without breaking us. 

The night, where nursing home residents, students, and other participants enjoyed by accompanying folk music songs, was completed with gifts given in honor of the entire group through Choir Conductor Yıldız Can.
